Why Photography?
I have been in and out of photography since High School where I used my Mom’s Canon AE-1 and self-loaded bulk black and white film. Those days I spent as much time as I could at our school’s darkroom developing film and prints. The chemical smell that hit you in the face each time you walked into the room became quite comforting after a few weeks.
After High School I spent my days sleeping in my car while on climbing and skiing trips in Wyoming, Montana, Utah, The Black Hills, and Washington all the while using my Canon Power Shot as much as I could.
After my trips I always loved seeing my photos and always appreciated photography, but I hadn’t really spent time focusing on it since High School. That all changed after a big year where I had a climbing accident and had my second shoulder surgery. That was quickly followed by being buried in an avalanche while backcountry skiing around Bozeman, MT. Those were my cues to slow it down.
That’s when I pulled out a Canon 40D my parents got me for Christmas and I started taking more pictures. It evolved from there into a couple dream cameras and I have been focused on it ever since.
Action. Landscape. Lifestyle.
